Throwback Thursday

If you can identify the black object located in front of the box...
you worked in a library a long time ago.

Five Systems updated

Your records have been uploaded to Five Systems. We heard from one library that requested a delay because of a big weeding project. Why so much weeding? Chestnut Ridge in Churchville will be 'remodeled' this summer! Unfortunately, the job will run into the fall. Librarian on a cart is no fun. Getting to see redesigned school libraries is fun.
We're looking forward to seeing the NEW Chestnut Ridge Library!

Friday Fun - Book Benches

It is spring in Rochester! Time to read a good book outside in the sunshine. How about one of these benches for a perfect reading spot?

Z Sources in Destiny

AccessPA has been removed because it is no longer accessible.  Mitinet was added at the #1 spot. It is a good source of quality MARC records (including those hard to find dvds). All changes have been made for you. Thanks Karen!

Friday Fun! Did you Pinterest today?

Promised Jane I would send at least a few Simply Destiny blogs in her absence but somehow that hasn’t happened yet. :(  Jane, we miss you and can’t wait for your return!

This post is not news to any of you but rather a reminder of what an awesome resource Pinterest can be for school libraries as long as you keep your focus and not wander off into “everything”, “food”, or “home décor” like I do.

To get started, here are some ideas for using Pinterest professionally:

If Using a Category: Education
Search Terms (Pins, Boards or People): Library, School Library, Library Media Specialist, Common Core, Information Literacy, Educational Technology, Pathfinders, Librarians or specific Libraries, etc.

Here are some pinners that maintain a steady stream of library-related pins:

And an article:

Stay warm and happy pinning!

Destiny 11.5 Video

Destiny 11.5 is here!

Web Path Express Browse feature was improved. Subject search is visible on Web Path Express front page. Topics can be expanded easily by clicking the + button.
A new Homeroom setup button in Back Office in left panel menu. It’s also located in Back Office>Site Configuration>Site Administration sub tab.
 Updated material type icons.
Sub location is now visible in Destiny Classic and Destiny Quest

Improved Web Path Express Statistics Report can show total usage across the district.

Enrollment and access to Follett’s User Group is visible in the upper right corner.
